C.H. Morris & Sons was established in 1952 as a family partnership, which produced tobacco, corn, wheat, and operated a Grade B dairy. In 1965, we eliminated the tobacco, wheat, dairy and started an Angus-based beef cattle herd, and purchased a small sawmill, which we operated until 1993. In 1986 we purchased our first Gelbvieh bull. In 1988, C. H. Morris & Sons registered their first Gelbvieh calf and started its first purebred herd. The cow herd currently consists of about 100 cows that calve in the fall. Of those 100 cows, 30 to 35 females are retained and 15 of those go back into the herd. The others are sold in the Buckingham Cattlemen’s Association’s Spring Bred Heifer Sale. We also sell about 25 registered bulls each year. The heifers and bulls (steered) that do not meet selective criteria are sold at the Buckingham Cattleman’s Association Feeder Calf Sale in August. In 2015, C.H. Morris & Sons was formed into C.H. Morris & Sons LLC, which consists of Roger L. Morris, a founding member, his wife, Carolyn S. Morris (who has been maintaining records for the company since 1963), their daughter, Rebecca Moss, and her husband, C.W. Moss.
Not only was he born and raised in Buckingham County, Roger was actually born on the farm and has always lived here. He has always loved farming. He married his high school sweetheart in 1963. He has always loved to raise things, always having a litter of puppies, turkeys, ducks, even having 4 beautiful daughters. Roger began keeping bees when he was 25 years old, and currently has 150 hives, which produce about 1,000 pounds of honey each year. Roger was Virginia Cattlemen's Association 2020 Cattlemen of the Year.

Born and raised in Buckingham County, C W Moss moved onto the farm in 1993. Although always willing to help, he became more involved in the day-to-day operations in 2013. A full-time law enforcement officer during the day, he spends most of his time off working with the cows and keeping equipment in order. When time permits, CW enjoys bow hunting and coon hunting.

Grace has spent her whole life on her family's Gelbvieh farm in Buckingham County. Growing up, she was active in her local 4-H and FFA, showing heifers' raised on the farm. Grace follows her grandfathers passion for beekeeping, and her fathers passion for coon hunting. In her spare time, she enjoys riding her horses, trapping, and taking care of her menagerie of critters. She currently attends the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and plans to graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Food and Agricultural Business, after which she will pursue a career in Agriculture and keep the family farm going.
